Christmas Caroling in the Philippines

Christmas time has come again. I have missed the Christmas Carols in the Philippines a lot. Christmas Carol is one of Filipinos partaking every time the Christmas season comes. Mostly the youth, organization/club, employees etc., are the unified busy of this act. Everyone has its own approach when it come to singing, costumes and music instruments to give happiness on each home. 

In Philippines the Christmas song entitled " Ang Pasko ay Sumapit" is the well known among other songs. It is one of my favorite Christmas song; to name others carols are: Noche Buena, Kumukutikutitap, Namamasko, Pasko na Naman, Sa may Bahay ang Aming Bati, Christmas in our Hearts, Himig ng Pasko and Sa Paskong Darating. These are few songs to mention in carols, but these are the songs that you will mostly hear in Philippine Christmas carols. Carols that is our own sung with pride and proud by Filipinos which gives happiness to everyone.

Joyful Christmas Experience in the Philippines

Christmas is the most awaited Holiday in the Philippines especially for children. Kids around the country is very happy and excited, so as I, because after waiting for a long year they are about to visit their Ninong’s (Godfather) and Ninang’s (Godmother) who will give them Aguinaldo (gifts for Christmas) like Santa Clause. Haist! I miss my childhood.

For me, what I like most in Christmas is when I and my friends go to do some Caroling, sing joyful songs to our neighbors and nearby houses. We used to gather and bring our Christmas instruments like drums (empty tin can in medium size), tambourine (pressed bottle crows joined together in a cord), toy guitar and all sorts of recycled instruments. We are so excited to sing Christmas song with full of joy in each and every houses in our neighborhood. No matter how it sounded like, we used to sing to the fullest within our hearts. That’s the spirit!

Christmas is Near - Paskong Pinoy

Few more days to go, it's Christmas time again. It's been 5 years have passed since I go abroad, I really missed the Philippines mostly how Filipinos celebrate Christmas Eve. Nothing compares to it. All families are gathered together in welcoming the birth of our Lord Almighty, Jesus Christ. There is an exchange gifts, carols, Christmas decorations (Christmas Tree, lantern, Christmas lights) and most of all the Noche Buena - wherein a variety of foods are prepared.

I remember my childhood, wherein our nochebuena is always served with Ham, queso debola (cheese ball) and Leche Flan. Also fruit salad, spaghetti, pancit, shanghai roll and ube espesyal (purple yam) is not missing. That's "Paskong Pinoy" as we say in our language.

My Best Ever Favorite Dessert - Leche Flan

The very popular dessert ever in the Philippines, leche flan. It is made-up of soft eggs (yolk), creamy milk and soothing caramel. I really missed it. It's very different when it's done by my Mom. She really make it very simple and special for us. It is a special menu in our Noche Buena and Media Noche. If I remember, what my Mom doing is after mixing all the ingredients she will drain the mixture in a cloth (commonly used is katsa) into the llanera. And after that she will steam all the llanera with a mixture. After some time (I forgot the exact timing) it will be done and a delicious masterpiece is ready to be served.

Haist!!! I really missed eating leche flan with my family. I wish, me and my wife is with my family in the Philippines.
